Luxury Car Spotted Without Karnataka Road Tax, Officials Take Action
A Ferrari SF90 Stradale was recently seen driving around Bengaluru, but not everything was smooth for the luxury car. The Regional Transport Office (RTO) took action when they found out that the owner had not paid the road tax in Karnataka, and ended up paying a total of Rs 1.42 crore, including penalties and dues.
What Happened?
- The red Ferrari, which starts at Rs 7.5 crore, had been turning heads in the city for a while.
- On Thursday morning, officers from the Bengaluru South RTO noticed the car. It was registered in Maharashtra, so they checked its tax details.
- After confirming that no road tax was paid in Karnataka, they seized the car and gave the owner a formal notice.
- The notice warned about legal action if the payment wasn’t made by the evening.
- The owner quickly responded and paid Rs 1,41,59,041.
A Huge Recovery for the RTO
Officials say this is one of the biggest road tax collections from a single car in recent times. The department said it will keep checking luxury vehicles to make sure they are not avoiding taxes.
Back in February, the transport department had already taken strong steps by seizing 30 luxury cars for similar reasons. These included Ferraris, Porsches, Audis, BMWs, Aston Martins, and Range Rovers. That operation involved over 40 RTO officers.
